Overview
In recent years, Washington State has seen an increase in crashes resulting in serious injuries and fatalities. To better understand and develop actions to counteract this trend, The City of Shoreline is developing a new Transportation Safety Action Plan aligned with the USDOT’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program.
The Safety Action Plan will improve the City’s existing safety planning process, the Annual Traffic Report, by:
Using new tools to find locations with the highest risk of serious crashes
Identifying what broader actions can be taken to prevent serious crashes
Prioritizing projects so our limited funds make the biggest impact
Engaging the community in the development of the plan to ensure it aligns with community values and priorities
Ensuring action steps align with equitable outcomes and are proven to reduce serious and fatal injury crashes
Reviewing and possibly changing policies and processes
Improving progress reporting for better accountability
This project is grant funded. This makes Shoreline eligible for future federal safety funding, such as additional SS4A grant funding. It also supports Shoreline’s strategic plan to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Community feedback is key to creating a successful Safety Action Plan and supports a culture of safety. It also helps us align the plan with the values, needs and priorities of the community.
We have heard from you about how we prioritize actions in consideration of our City-funded traffic safety resources and potential grant opportunities. We will provide a report on what we've heard in the near future.
The survey is now closed.
