Community Engagement Report
A summary of community engagement activities is now available!
Please see Attachment B to the July 2, 2026 Planning Commission staff report. This report includes details of community workshops and a survey held earlier this year to get input on providing better connections to and through the light rail station areas.
Key themes from overall engagement for both station areas include the following:
- Directness: Desire for shorter, intuitive routes that reduce out-of-direction travel especially east-west connections through the station areas.
- Safety and comfort: Specific priorities included lighting, crossing quality, traffic calming, and predictable, separated spaces for walking and rolling.
- Closing gaps: Interest in mid-block paths, dead-end through-connections, and commercial courtyard links to break up long blocks and expand the walkshed.
- Place-making near stations: Support for pedestrian plazas and commercial courtyards that add activation and “third places” close to transit.
We took this input and updated our connectivity concepts that will be presented to Planning Commission. We sincerely appreciate folks who showed up and spent their valuable time to make this a better plan update for the whole community!
Thank you!
